Our little ski bunny

So for those of you who know Garrett know how much he loves the snow. We have been talking all winter about taking Kenedy skiing but we couldn't decide who got to go with her (Gavin doesn't love the snow or wind so someone needed to stay with him).
Garrett decided to take her up last Saturday to Alta's "Free after three". If you are not familiar with this Alta allows anyone to come and ski free from 3:00-4:00 p.m. She loved it. Putting her skis on, riding the chair lift (a little scary) and then "skating" down the hill. She thought it was the coolest thing EVER!!!! Not just because she was skiing but it also gave her some special dad time. They ate snow, rolled down the hill and just relaxed.

  • This little event was just a glimpse of many more skiing days to come!!
GREAT JOB SIS!!!!!!

Here's to you... GAVIN

I was looking back on some of my older posts and I came to the realization that most of my blog entry's consist of what Kenedy is doing in her life. She is my busy body and there is always something to "show and tell" with her, but I wanted to tell you about my little man Gavin. He is just over six months old and he is my "CHUNKY MONKEY"!!!!!!!!

Just a little about my sweet boy:
*He outweighs all of his friends who were all born weeks and months before him.

* He has big blue eyes and rosy cheeks.

*His pants are always too long but have to be worn with the first button undone because of his large girth.

*He loves music, especially classical. Whenever he hears it he immediately stops whatever he is doing and just listens.

*His fav. food is bananas and sweet potatoes

*He is an incredible sleeper and has always loved his beauty rest.

*He hates the wind and cold regardless of how bundled up he is.

*He loves his face rubbed and finds it extremely soothing. (He takes after his mother).

*He loves hats and has a weakness for them. (maybe that is my fault)?
*His best friend is Kenedy (hands down).

* He sleeps burrowed down on his right side

*He loves bubbles, it doesn't matter who is blowing them.

*He loves ALL the Disney princess movies (Thank you Sis).

*He loves to be tickled and try's his hardest to hold it in until he finally explodes with laughter.

*His most ticklish area is underneath chin and thighs and sides (hahahha).

*He has a huge smile with dimples.

*His fav. time of day is anytime

*He has an outy belly button

*He loves more than anything to be Naked.

*His fav. toy is Kenedy's dress-up beads and a Caterpillar.

*He doesn't look much like Mom or Dad.
*He loves to stare at ceiling fans and neon lights at the food court at the mall.

*He loves to chew on his toes.

*He loves to be squeezed so tight that it almost knocks the wind out of him.

Gavin is such a happy baby who loves his food and even more than food he loves people. Most mothers would think when it's time to put your baby down for a nap that you would then take them to their quiet room and lay them in their cozy crib. Not Gavin, if there is a party or get-together going on, or just an ordinary day at home and its time for nap he wants to be apart of it. So all you need to do is put him in his car seat, wrap a blanket close to his face amidst the chaos and he immediately goes to sleep. (Crazy, I know) but he just loves being around people.
Gavin has the biggest smile (with dimples) and a big heart. He worries, and anytime his Sis is sad or hurt he begins to cry. Kenedy personally has to tell him she is OK. He is so sensitive that I sometimes worry that he will need his sassy big sister to defend him when he gets older.

He lights up my morning, noon, and night (and sometimes middle of the night). He will smile at me and laugh when I am making a fool of myself even when he doesn't think I'm all that funny just so I don't think my efforts went unnoticed.

He Loves the tub. A few weeks ago Garrett was giving Kenedy a tub and while she was bathing he brought Gavin into the bathroom to change him into his pajamas. The moment he heard the water going and his clothes were being taken off he started kicking and squealing. Garrett didn't think much of it and continued to change his diaper and put a onsie on. As he was doing this Gavin went from completely ECSTATIC to FUSSING and then into a FULL BLOW CRY. He could not figure out what his deal was. Garrett took off his clothes and he started to clam down, then he took his diaper off and placed him in the tub (2ND one of the day) and Gavin just grinned from ear to ear and started splashing. So now we know for future situations don't take him into the bathroom with a tub full of water unless you intend on putting him in it.

As I think about how happy my two kiddos make me it is hard to imagine that not so long ago we were just a family of three. And for a moment right before I had Gavin I could not imagine loving someone as much as my first child. Boy was I proven wrong. I love them both completely and differently. I am so grateful for the opportunity the Lord gave me to be a mother. I could not ask for a better calling. Now that I have two children and I see how happy they make me maybe I can have a dozen more... JUST KIDDING. But I do know that two is not the end of this family. I hope to have a few more. I love you Gavin and Kenedy.

Trying to get both kids to smile in the same photo is near impossible.

I just found a basket full of candy and I hope

Kenedy will sneak me a few licks before mom and dad see.

Two Peas in a Pod

I have yet to find two friends who have so much in common and can play make believe for hours. Kenedy, up until a little while ago only associated with boys. (Not necessarily by choice, but because they were the only ones in the neighborhood, nursery, and family remotely close to her age).
Well, ALL THAT HAS CHANGED!!! Her favorite "Princess" friend Addison is as obsessed with Disney and princess dress-ups as Kenedy. I did not thing that was at all possible. It has truly been fun to see these two interact and play in their own little world.
ADDIE WE LOVE U!!!!

When they decorate their own cupcakes its all SPRINKLES, SPRINKLES, and more SPRINKLES!!!!
(Did I mention sprinkles)?
Just enjoying a tea party at the Princess dance ball!!! Consisting of rice and cheese and crackers. YUM!!!!!

These two couldn't get enough bouncin' at the Kangaroo Zoo. Needless to say they took great naps shortly after leaving.

Tagged... Get to know me, I've Been Tagged... Here are the Rules of the game 1. Rules of the game are posted at the beginning of post. 2. The player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves 3. At the end of the post the players then tags 6 other bloggers, and posts their names.

My Favorite Food:
This is a "no brainer" for me. SUSHI, SUSHI, SUSHI. Takashi is my favorite restaurant and I refuse to venture elsewhere for this food. I know it sound snobby to be so devoted to a restaurant but once you try this place you will never go anywhere else. I don't go there extremely often but whenever I have a choice, Birthday, or special occasion you can bet that Sushi is what I want.

One thing I can't live without:

Running, it is the one thing that keeps me sane. It is the one thing that is all mine, and nobody can interrupt me. (selfish, I know) I started by doing marathons and I do think that those are rewarding. Until two summers ago when I was introduced to triathalons. I absolutely love the atmosphere of this sport. Its a little more light hearted, the people are a blast to be around and everyone is there to improve themselves. I also love the transition periods. The swim-bike-run just adds enough variety to keep it interesting and is so much more fun to train for. I was preggo last summer so I didn't get to continue deeper into it so I hope to get back into it a bit more seriously this season.

I truly love Utah and feel that it is the perfect place to live and raise a family.

Don't get me wrong I am sure there are many georgeous places around the world but Utah is the place for me and my family. The four seasons have so much to offer. Just when I am getting burned out of summer the leaves change and I get to gear up for fall.

Another reason this place is for me is year round there is OODLES of outdoor activities to do. I am lucky to have a husband who loves to do absolutely everything (you name it he loves to do it). Whether its rock climbing, ice climbing, skiing, camping, biking, running, boating, we love it all. (Sad to say our kids have no chance but to love it).

One Thing I will do before I die:

I say "before I die" becuase its obviously not in the cards in the near future due to being in the throws of children. But I would love to at some point attend Culinary school and then go on to open up my own little shop/cafe. I don't know if it will be soley a pastry place or cuisine that is yet to be decided. I just love to know what makes things taste a certain way and would love to learn how to tweek ANY recipe to my liking. I am definetly OBSESSED with the presentation and making the food look pretty.

Guilty Pleasures-

Dark Chocolate- I love it! Anytime I am baking and a recipe calls for chocolate/chips no matter what they recommend I always use Dark Chocolate ( I also double the amount). YUM!!!!!

I also secretly like Dr. Phil. I may not get to watch it all that often but when I do I find myself glued to the television. I love to see him tell people exactly what they are doing wrong. He is blunt, bold and sometimes comes off as unsympathetic but he gets the message through to his guests. ( I do think he has wonderful advice for parents and their children).

My one claim to fame:

I was a nanny in New York after I graduated High School. I had been out there for a little over a year and was getting ready to come home when my bishop in the Manhattan singles ward asked me if I would like to dog sit for a friend of his (who was an actor). I didn't know who he was at the time, and I thought "why not". So I interviewed with him later that same week. He was such a nice guy, we chatted casually about his dog "Dirty" and his daily routine. He briefly mentioned he was an actor and was shooting a film in London and didn't want to put his pride and joy in a kennel. Aaron completely downplayed his status. After taking a walk with Dirty and getting a rundown of his apartment he offered me the job. It was the greatest job I have ever had. His dog was extremely obedient and was known around Soho so he was allowed into cafes and restaurants. I took him everywhere I went. I basically got to stay in his loft and stroll around the city with his dog for great $$$$$. Too bad it was short lived(just a couple of months). When he returned from shooting his film he asked if I could do it again in the future but it was too random and sporadic to continue. It was great while it lasted.

In a matter of seconds

To pass some time while I started dinner the other night I got out the finger paints for Kenedy to color. I took her shirt off so she wouldn't get her sleeves dirty. This isn't the first time that Kenedy has painted, and she knows the drill as far as "paper stays on the paper".

I turned around to put some pasta into the pan and as I turned back there was sweet little peanut painting herself. "It feels cold and funny mom!!!" I could not help but laugh when she said that. Its incerdible to see what little things make a child so happy. This being one of those moments where she didn't have to stay clean and she knew that it would come right off.

Snow day with dad

For all of you who know Garrett he has been as giddy as a school boy this last couple weeks due to the "oodles" of snow we have received. Well "like father like daughter". Kenedy looks out the window each morning and if she sees any snow falling or even a little covering the ground she tells me "now that it is snowing we can go sledding". She loves to help dad shovel, stomp on the snow and most important of all she LOVES to eat it. (Even off the bottom of her boots). Garrett bought her a pair of snow shoes last year (kenedy was 18 mo. old at the time), but he knew that she would eventually grow into them and that he would soon be able to take her out.
So last week he had some time off, and decided it was time to pull out Kenedy's snow shoes. They were still huge but she was thrilled to go out with dad for a little daddy daughter date. I thought she would get a little frusterated and want to quit but she quickly figured out how to manage and she went crazy!!!! She is truly my little thrill seeker and she idolizes her dad! They had a great time and she told me when she got back that she loved her new "skates". This is partially why dad is Kenedy's best friend. Garrett loves to spend time with her, he reads books and more books, takes her to the childrens Museum, plays dress up and tea party, has sneaky ways of getting her to eat her food and have fun at the same time. The list goes on and on. I do think that there is a special bond dads have with their little girls. I am lucky to have such a wonderful husband who can't get enough of his two children.

Treasued moments
